Besides attracting investments and international water companies to Singapore, PUB has also drawn foreign talents to work in the water industry here. This diversity of talents, viewpoints and cultural sensibilities makes a world of difference to the organisation. Ong May Anne talks to some of our `UN representatives' and finds that they are united - by their love for water.

Wu Rong
Engineer, 3P Network

Coming from a country with a long and illustrious history, Wu Rong brings with her a primal perspective of water.

"Historically, human civilisations all developed along river banks," she observes. "In China, the Yangtze River and Yellow River were the cradles for 5,000 years of history. Even now, those cities located along rivers or coastal areas are better developed than those inland." From this, Wu Rong concludes that regardless of

time and place, people depend on water to achieve a comfortable standard of living.

As part of its globalisation strategy, PUB is taking steps to develop its business in China. And Wu Rong sees opportunities for a person from a Chinese background to promote a positive approach towards water - to improve not only the standard of living but also the quality of life. "Whenever I sit beside a river or lake, I feel only hope, peace and faith."
