   Water Volunteers Programme

Partnering the 3P (People, Public and Private) stakeholders, PUB’s Water Volunteers Programme aims to build an exemplary water culture in which people are inspired to be water guardians.

Launched on 22 March 2009, the training programme aims to:

  • Cultivate strong ability among stakeholders to conserve, value and enjoy our water resources,
  • Create well-informed volunteers, and
  • Encourage stakeholders to build a strong relationship with water and take ownership of our water resources.
  • The programme comes in two parts: core and optional modules couple with different learning modes including lectures, site visits, journals and, hands-on training.

By adopting the “Train-the-Trainer” approach, the programme began by training a core group of volunteer trainers who will then share their knowledge with others within and outside their networks.

    What do volunteers do?

    Volunteers have multiple options:

  • Want to share Singapore’s effort in water sustainability and the Singapore Water Story with people? Join us as a guide at Marina Barrage and NEWater Visitor Centre.
  • Keen to talk to residents on the importance of water conservation? Go on community visits with PUB staff to teach them how to install water saving devices.
  • Prefer to be in nature? Be a guide at the MacRitchie Reservoir and share the Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters Programme with the public while taking them on nature walks.
  • Want to meet who’s who’s in the water industry? Don’t miss the chance to volunteer at the Singapore International Water Week and some of the major water events in Singapore.
