What You Can Do
Water is a precious resource. Without it, life is impossible. All Singaporeans have a part to play in conserving water, keeping our water catchments and waterways clean and building a relationship with water so that we can enjoy our water resource. This can help ensure that we have sufficient water for our daily needs not only for this generation but for generations to come. Here are some ways you can contribute towards water sustainability.
- Practise good water saving habits in your daily routine.
- Take part in the 10-litre Challenge If each of us saved 10 litres of water a day, the total amount of water saved could fill 17 swimming pools.
- Join the Our Waters Programme by adopting a reservoir, reservoir park or waterway. By organising clean-ups and keeping the water clean, we can keep the cost of treating water low as well as keep our surroundings clean and beautiful.
- Make your home and workplace water efficient, simply by installing thimbles in your taps and shower heads.
- Organize trips to the NEWater Visitor Centre to learn more about NEwater, our third National Tap.
- Request for water talks for your organization or school and help promote messages on water conservation.
- Promote bonding with water by organizing activities such as kayaking and dragon boating at the reservoirs and use the opportunities to educate participants on what it takes to sustain Singapore’s water supply.
