Barrage Safety

Date of Notice : 29 May 2008
Name of Notice : BARRAGE SAFETY
Location : Marina Barrage, Marina Channel

1.    This is a repetition of Marina Reservoir notification dated 31 Oct 2007 with amendments.

BOATERS TO KEEP CLEAR OF THE BARRAGE

2.    With immediate effect and until further notice, all boaters (non power-driven vessels) are to keep clear of the Barrage by at least 280m. All non power-driven vessels are NOT allowed to transit through the boat hoist area. This measure is necessary as there could be strong current due to on-going construction and barrage gate operation activities. The 280m limit is marked by three yellow pillar buoys with “DANGER NO ENTRY” sign and exhibiting flashing yellow light every 6 sec (see attached photo 1). 450m upstream of the Barrage are three lighted warning buoys (see attached photo 2).

POWER-DRIVEN VESSELS TO KEEP CLOSE TO COASTLINE

3.    All Power-driven vessels intending to transit the boat hoist area may go beyond the 280m limit but are cautioned to keep as close to the coastline (on the side of the boat hoist) as possible to avoid any possible adverse effect of strong current.

4.    Marina reservoir notification dated 31 Oct 2007 is hereby withdrawn.
