PUB Received an Award of Excellence for the NEWater Project

PUB has been presented with an Award of Excellence from the National Water Research Institute (NWRI), USA, for the NEWater Demonstration Plant project and in recognition of PUB's outstanding contributions to microfiltration technology. The award was presented to PUB on 4 May 2002 at the Microfiltration III Conference held at Costa Mesa, California, USA. The conference was jointly organized by NWRI, Montgomery Watson Harza and The City of San Diego.

NWRI is a prestigious water research institute based in the USA to promote the protection, maintenance, and restoration of water supplies and aquatic environments through the development of cooperative research work. NWRI's partners in joint research projects comprise local, state, and federal governments as well as from private industry, public utilities and universities.

Singapore is the first country in the Asia Pacific region to receive the Award of Excellence. The Award was created by NWRI to recognize organizations throughout the world that have demonstrated excellence by employing advanced technologies to improve the quality, quantity, sustainability, and reliability of water supplies. NWRI evaluated 7 different projects worldwide and the NEWater project was selected as one of two for recognition in 2002.
