PUB Chairman Mr Tan Gee Paw received the President’s Award for the Environment in December 2007. The highest accolade in Singapore’s environment and water sector, the President’s Award recognises the achievements and contributions of individuals, organisations and companies towards Singapore’s efforts in achieving environmental and water sustainability.

Having devoted his career to the environment and water sector, Mr Tan, in his capacity as PUB Chairman, brought about the integration of water, drainage and sewerage services under one agency, enabling Singapore to put in place a robust and sustainable water supply system.

Mr Tan was also instrumental in overseeing the development of NEWater, which was successfully introduced in 2002 to meet Singapore’s water needs. Under his leadership and guidance, PUB has won numerous recognitions, including the Stockholm Industry Water Award 2007, one of the most prestigious in the water sector.

Other winners include Professor Leo Tan, former Chairman of National Parks Board, and Singapore property developer City Developments Limited.
