Striking a Happy Balance
The PUB Recreation Club offers employees a chance to interact and get fit with a range of outdoor events.
A happy, healthy worker is a motivated worker. But what can be done to keep employees on the right track? Enter PUB’s Work-Life programmes where employees are given time off for exercise, the opportunity to participate in singles’ networking events and leeway to explore flexible work arrangements, among a host of other benefits. In support of working parents, a designated ‘Eat With Your Family Day’ even gives married male employees time off to cook for their families!
Reinforcing the organisation’s core value of caring for the employee, initiatives centre on the social, physical, economic and mental well-being of staff. Also included are union-management initiatives where Management and the PUB Employees’ Union spearhead activities like dialogue sessions and PUB Family Day.
PUBRC, the organisation’s recreation club in Woodleigh Park, offers an outdoorsy buzz of activities from yoga to kayaking to al fresco dining, fostering teamwork and camaraderie among staff.
Senior Corporate Communications Officer Ms Tan Guan Li said: “I really appreciate being able to take time off for workout sessions at the gym. It not only allows me to get to know my colleagues better outside of work, the organisation’s understanding and care for our well-being also makes working here more enjoyable.”
PUB’s Work-Life programmes are aligned with PS21’s Panel for Employee Engagement and Recognition (PEER), which champions employee engagement, recognition and staff well-being.
