In PUB, it is our responsibility to ensure that safe and high-quality drinking water, which meets the World Health Organisation (WHO) Guidelines for Drinking-Water Quality, is supplied to our nation at all times. Our commitment is effected in two ways: comprehensive water analyses and R&D.
Our Water Research Analytical Laboratories form a leading research and analytical facility in the environmental and chemical fields. There are 6 sections in the Department: General Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology and PUB Water Science. Our analytical laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation and are SAC-SINGLAS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited and ISO 9001:2000 certified.
Our laboratories monitor the quality of NEWater, drinking, used and raw water samples. Each year, approximately 300,000 samples are checked for over 290 parameters. Our expertise also extends to research projects and new method developments.
We also offer a broad range of environmental and chemical analytical services, including more than 600 inorganic, organic, radiological, microbiological and biotechnological parameters, to government, academic, commercial and industrial organisations. We specialise in trace and ultra trace level analyses and welcome water samples from the environment, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, food and other industries. We use regulatory and widely-accepted industry methods, such as USEPA, ASTM, APHA, etc., and strict QA/QC protocols with a complete Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) are followed.
