Private Sewers Rehabilitation Programme

Owners have to maintain the private sewers that send used water from their premises to the public sewers. Owners have to play their part to prevent leakage from their sewer network by carrying out repairs if the network is defective.

The objective of the Private Sewers Rehabilitation Programme is to help owners carry out such repair works. The government helps by providing technical and financial assistance.

High-rise buildings (Civic, Residential, Industrial and Commercial) and shophouses of age 10 years and above will be included in this programme. Private landed residential properties are generally excluded. However, they will be rehabilitated if their private sewers are found to be severely leaking and polluting the water courses.
