NEWater Visitor Centre

NEWater Visitor Centre promises a fun-filled and enriching time for everyone with its daily tours and educational workshops. Understand the science behind NEWater and experience what it’s like to be a water molecule undergoing treatment!

From building mini rain-gardens to gaining hands-on experience operating a ‘mini’ NEWater membrane Plant, students will be totally immersed in a multi-sensory experience to tease their knowledge on NEWater and other water-related topics.

Come join us as visiting the NEWater Visitor Centre is the best way to learn about Singapore’s 3rd National Tap. Admission is free!.

Water Education @ NEWater Visitor Centre

*All programmes are only available for local schools.

NEWater Scientist Programme

Equipped with lab coats, hard hats and an iPod Touch, students take on the role of NEWater scientist and embark on an exciting journey of exploration and discovery around the Visitor Centre.

This programme is suitable for Primary 4 and 5 students (10-11 year olds).

Availability: Monday to Friday at four slots:

  • 9.30 am – 11 am
  • 11.30 am – 1 pm
  • 2 pm – 3.30 pm
  • 4 pm – 5.30 pm
  • Capacity per session
    Group size between 40 - 120 students. Optimal number: 80 students.

    Rain Garden Workshop

     

    Come join us to make mini rain-gardens and understand how it functions to alleviate stormwater runoff and improve water quality. Find out more here.

    Suitable for students, public agencies and grassroots organisations.

    Availability: Tuesday – Friday, 10am – 12pm

    Youth Water Ambassador Programme

    A highly interactive programme where youth student leaders come together to collaborate and explore the possibilities to act and contribute towards water sustainability. Educators can look forward to connecting youth to water issues where they will develop leadership skills in areas of water stewardship.

    Suitable for students, corporate organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) / Interest Groups.

    Afternoon session: 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm

    Managing Stormwater in Singapore

    Designed to fit the new Secondary 2 Geography syllabus, this programme engages youths on stormwater management strategies in Singapore through interactive pedagogical approach with the aid of a flood model. Students have the opportunity to get up-close with the fragility of the environment and witness how different infrastructures work to mitigate floods in an urbanised setting.

    Fundamentals Of Membrane Filtration In NEWater Process

    NEWater is a Singapore success story that exemplifies the country’s determination in turning challenges into opportunities. In line with the Lower Secondary Science syllabus, this unique programme allows students to understand the working principle behind membranes in water treatment through hands-on experience using a ‘mini’ NEWater membrane plant.
