IDA Desalination Academy Presents a Two-Day Course at Singapore International Water Week 2014

May 31, 2014 – Mr. David H. Paul
Course Title: Operational Aspects of Reverse Osmosis and Membrane Plants
The reverse osmosis (RO) Technology has been utilized for seawater and brackish water industrial and drinking water applications since the 1970s. Both seawater and brackish water RO systems, particularly those operating on surface water sources, still may have severe problems that cost a lot of money. These are common problems that everyone involved with RO systems should know. This course is for those new to the RO technology and those with experience. What is taught are the common problems that occur, and the effective ways to solve these problems. The information is based upon the instructor’s 36 years of operating, managing, training and consulting experience at hundreds of plants.

June 1, 2014 – Dr. Boris Liberman
Course Title: Mega Projects
This course will discuss the design of Mega Size RO Desalination Plants including the Pressure Center in Ashkelon, Hadera and Soreq Plants and the 16” Vertical membrane arrangement in Soreq plant and will cover the following topics:

  • Green design of Green design of RO plants. Desalination without chemicals.
  • New Design of Continues Backwash Filter
  • Recovery of Osmotic Power from SWRO brine, and Osmotic Power Generation (Ocean-River)
  • Challenges in Osmotic Power Generation, and ways to solve them
