The existing turfed banks of Sungei Ulu Pandan have been enhanced with soil bio-engineering techniques to create habitat cells, which are shallow streams with riverine planting along its banks.
Located at the edge of the river banks away from the canal's main flow, these habitat cells tap on the potential of the existing waterway and natural greenery in the area to create a rich, biodiverse riverine corridor that provide nesting spots and shelter for waterfowl and other fauna.
Other ABC Waters features include a rain garden and vegetated swales. Lookout decks were also built at strategic locations to provide vantage points overlooking the habitat cells, allowing flora and fauna to be observed up close.
