In Singapore, used water from homes, industries, and commercial premises flows through an extensive sewerage network to our Water Reclamation Plants (WRPs) for treatment. Treated used water is then further purified using advanced technologies such as membrane filtration and ultraviolet disinfection to produce NEWater – a high-quality, weather-resilient source that strengthens Singapore’s water security.

To keep Singapore’s used water treatment and NEWater production processes running smoothly, businesses must ensure any used water they discharge into the public sewerage system complies with the Sewerage, Drainage and Coastal Protection Act (SDCPA) and the Sewerage and Drainage (Trade Effluent) Regulations [SD(TE)R].
