The transformation of the former landfill inspired Greendale Secondary School, North Vista Secondary School, Punggol Secondary School and Seng Kang Secondary School, to co-develop a wireless ABC Waters Learning Trail for the community. Through this trail, students and teachers are able to share about the wetland functions and how it helps to keep the waters clean.
Lorong Halus Wetland is fast becoming a favourite bird-watching spot in the east. Nature Society Singapore (NSS) reaches out to the community through guided walks. Participants are able to bird-watch while discovering the relationship between clean water and a thriving wildlife.
Since 2014, Pratt & Whitney Singapore partners Waterways Watch Society to develop the "Learning @ Halus, Loving, Appreciating Halus" (LAH LAH) learning trail programme. This programme focuses on three topics: human impact on climate change and its consequences, water quality monitoring and the reality of water scarcity. Since then, it has received strong support from primary and secondary schools.
