PUB has launched a project in the older HDB flats to help households who were placed on community assistance schemes in 2017 to 2020 to replace their 9 litres water closets with more water efficient ones. This replacement were done for free, and is aimed at helping families to save water.
PUB had also replaced the existing non-water efficient basin taps/mixers and kitchen taps/mixers at the same time.
When were these older estates built?
These older estates refer to the HDB flats built between 1987 and 1992.
How much water can these households save after installing a water efficient water closet?
In general, households can save up to 5 litres of water for each flush with the replacement of their water closets. Overall, they can save up to 10% in their monthly water bills.
What was the duration of the project?
The project started in June 2017 and ended in November 2020.
