On 25 September 2026, PUB announced the recipients of the Singapore Watermark Awards (SWMA), Water Efficiency Awards (WEA) and Water Efficiency Awards (Projects), recognising organisations for their systematic efforts and commitment to Singapore’s water sustainability journey.
At the Singapore Watermark Awards 2026 ceremony, held at the Flower Field Hall at Gardens by the Bay, 42 awards were presented to 37 organisations across the three categories. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and the Environment, Ms Goh Hanyan, delivered the opening address.
Four leading organisations emerged from strong cross-sector competition to win the prestigious SWMA, setting higher benchmarks for water efficiency and advocacy for the non-domestic sectors. Meanwhile, 34 WEA and 4 WEAP were presented to recipients from diverse sectors, including data centres, healthcare, education, wafer fabrication, hotels, retail and commercial buildings.

Singapore Watermark Awards (SWMA)
The SWMA is Singapore’s highest honour for organisations that demonstrate exemplary leadership and outstanding achievements in advancing water sustainability.
Since the SWMA’s inception in 2007, 72 recipients have been conferred the award, setting new benchmarks for their industries and sectors. See past winners and read about the 2026 winners' water stories.
The next SWMA will be held in 2028 with details to be shared closer to date. If you have any enquiries or feedback, please e-mail us at [email protected].Eligibility
SWMA 2026 nominations were open from 1 March to 30 April 2026 to all non-domestic water users, including private companies, businesses, educational institutions, town councils and government premises.
Nominees had to be registered in Singapore and could submit only one nomination, either for a cluster or an individual venue. If PUB received multiple submissions for the same cluster or venue, it would select one for consideration at its discretion.
Evaluation Criteria
The SWMA 2026 criteria are provided below for reference. Please note that the criteria may be revised for SWMA 2028.
• Performance: Demonstrated efforts and quantifiable results in the efficient use of water.
• Advocacy/Influence: Displayed positive changes to water conservation through implemented policies, programmes, or outreach activities.
• Innovativeness: Incorporated innovative services, programmes, processes or new technologies to reduce water use or promote water recycling.
• Sustainability reporting: Organisations that have published action plans to achieve their water efficiency goals will be allocated bonus points.
Selection Process
The SWMA Secretariat verified all nominations and supporting documents upon submission. The nominations then underwent several rounds of evaluation within PUB before being assessed by a Selection Committee comprising prominent thought leaders, distinguished academics, and public- and private-sector water experts.
Notification of Results
2026 award recipients were notified at the end of July 2026.
Water Efficiency Awards (WEA)
Introduced in 2017, the Water Efficiency Awards (WEA) honour organisations that achieve outstanding water efficiency in their respective sectors. Awards go to premises with the lowest Water Efficiency Index (WEI) and industrial plants with the highest recycling rates. The next WEA will be held in 2028.
Eligibility
The sector-based WEA does not accept nominations. PUB selects recipients internally based on organisational data submitted each June under the Water Efficiency Management
Practices (WEMP).
Evaluation Criteria
The Water Efficiency Index (WEI) assesses water efficiency by comparing water consumption against a business activity indicator that represents the user’s operations.
WEI = Total amount of water consumed/business activity indicator.
To qualify for WEA, a site must rank among the top 10 percentile in its sector for either WEI or recycling rate and be certified as a Water Efficient Building.
Notification of Results
2026 award recipients were notified by August 2026.
Water Efficiency Awards (Projects) (WEAP)
Introduced in 2024 alongside the return of the SWMA, the Water Efficiency Awards (Projects) (WEAP) recognise innovative projects that deliver significant water-efficiency gains and raise industry benchmarks. The next WEAP will be presented in 2028.
Eligibility
WEAP nominations were open to all non-domestic water users, including companies, businesses, educational institutions, town councils and government premises.
Nominees had to be registered in Singapore and could submit their own nomination or be nominated by another party. Each project could receive only one nomination, but an organisation could nominate multiple projects.
Projects had to be commissioned between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2026, achieve measurable water-efficiency improvements, operate successfully and comply with all relevant Singapore regulations. This period provided sufficient operating time and data before WEAP submission.
Evaluation Criteria
Nominations were assessed against the criteria below, which may be revised for WEAP 2028.
Performance: Demonstrated efforts and quantifiable results in reducing water demand from PUB, increase in recycled water from within the plants/premises, reduced costs and demonstrable return on investment.
Innovativeness: Demonstrated innovative use of technology and process improvements to reduce water use or promote recycling.
Project leadership: Demonstrated collaborative efforts to overcome unexpected obstacles and challenges.
Success of the project: Demonstrated successful operation of the project in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Notification of Results
2026 award recipients were notified by August 2026.
