Singapore, 25 September 2026 – PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, today recognised 37 organisations for excellence in water efficiency, conservation and advocacy across three award categories: Singapore Watermark Awards, Water Efficiency Awards and Water Efficiency Awards (Projects). The recipients span a diverse range of sectors, from water-intensive industries such as data centres and wafer fabrication, to healthcare and education institutions, as well as the hotel, retail and commercial building sectors. The awards were presented at the Singapore Watermark Awards 2026 ceremony at Gardens by the Bay, Flower Field Hall, where Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and the Environment, Ms Goh Hanyan, delivered the opening address.
2 Four organisations, out of 33 nominations, received the Singapore Watermark Awards, PUB’s highest accolade for water stewardship:
• Amazon Web Services Singapore (AWS Singapore)
• Institute of Technical Education (ITE)
• Micron Technology (Micron)
• National University Health System (NUHS)
3 The four recipients exemplify the dedicated commitment and systematic approach needed to translate ambition into practical action, demonstrating how organisations across different sectors can overcome sector-specific challenges to advance water sustainability through leadership, innovation and partnership. Notably, this year marks several significant firsts for the Singapore Watermark Awards. NUHS is the first organisation from the healthcare sector to receive the award, while ITE is the first entire cluster of campuses to be recognised. AWS Singapore, a repeat winner, became the first organisation since the award's return to receive all three awards in a single year.
4 PUB also presented Water Efficiency Awards to 34 recipients for exemplifying strong water-efficiency performance in their respective sectors. Four other recipients received Water Efficiency Awards (Projects) for initiatives that improved water reuse, reduced consumption, optimised operations or eliminated wastage. Details of the award recipients and their initiatives can be found in the Annex.
5 Mr Ong Tze-Ch’in, Chief Executive of PUB, said: “With climate change bringing greater uncertainty to rainfall patterns and rising non-domestic water demand, strengthening water resilience requires both sustained infrastructure investments and responsible water use across all industry sectors. This year’s award recipients show us how innovation and water efficiency can go hand in hand with business performance, while contributing to Singapore’s long term water security.”
6 By recognising role models and sharing best practices, PUB aims to encourage more organisations to make water efficiency part of their operational and investment decisions. Strengthening Singapore’s water resilience requires collective action by businesses, households and the government.
Supporting innovation in water-intensive sectors
7 Beyond recognising exemplary organisations, PUB is strengthening partnerships across the water ecosystem to accelerate innovation in industrial water management. At the Singapore International Water Week in June 2026, PUB announced an initial $12 million in funding under RIE2030 to support research and development in Industrial Water Solutions.
8 PUB has brought together research institutes, technology providers and industry end-users through Industrial Water Solutions Innovation Ecosystem Alliances for two priority sectors: wafer fabrication and data centres. The Separation Technologies Applied Research and Translation (START) Centre, hosted by Nanyang Technological University – NTUitive Pte Ltd, and the Sustainable Tropical Data Centre Testbed (STDCT), hosted at the National University of Singapore’s College of Design and Engineering, have been selected as anchor research partners for the respective sectors. They will coordinate and integrate demand-driven R&D to address the water challenges faced by the two sectors. Both programmes will launch open innovation calls to tap promising solutions and expertise from the wider research and industry ecosystem.
9 For wafer fabrication, START will explore solutions to increase water recycling, treat complex effluents and recover valuable resources such as chemicals and metals. For data centres, STDCT’s focus will be on validating water-saving cooling technologies under tropical conditions and developing new benchmarks for water- and energy-efficient data-centre cooling.
