Barry used to collect, sort and recycle waste papers with his best friend and his best friend’s mother when he was young and that experience has ignited his interest in the environment.

"The projects that I did while studying Mechanical Engineering in Singapore Polytechnic piqued my curiosity and interest in the environment. I am very grateful to be able to contribute to the environment while doing something I am interested in," shared Barry.

Ye Min Win is honoured to be awarded the NEW Scholarship and is grateful for the opportunity to pursue his interest in Civil Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) with the ease of financial worry.

"With the increasing demand for water usage and Singapore's aim to be self-sufficient in water, this would prove to be a challenging task. Joining PUB would be the ideal choice for me to push myself to the limit, putting what I will be learning in NUS to good use, learning from the best in this industry as well as do my part in contributing to nation building," said Ye Min Win.

Lau Su Jun is currently pursuing Civil Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Passionate about hydrology and urban water management, Su Jun had wanted to pursue a career in the water and environmental sector since young. Her internship at PUB’s Water Supply Network (WSN) Department reaffirmed her interest.

“Besides understanding Singapore’s integrated resource management approach as a whole, I had the opportunity to study the operations and maintenance regime of the water supply network. Through my stint at PUB, I also learnt the massive work involved in ensuring the seamless transfer of water from the plants to the network and finally to the customers’ taps. Understanding this process makes me more appreciative of the clean drinking water we have here in Singapore. I am grateful for the scholarship and privileged to be able to contribute to Singapore’s water future,” shared Su Jun.

Wang Pei was attached to Choa Chu Kang Waterworks during his NEW Internship with PUB. The internship allowed him to gain a thorough understanding of PUB’s work in ensuring Singapore with safe and reliable drinking water.

"The constant effort of PUB in staying abreast of the latest developments in water technology, the attitude of never being complacent of its achievements and its desire to always remain as a front runner in the global water arena have inspired me to join the organisation. I was impressed by the sheer amount of effort and resources PUB puts in innovation and the upgrading of its existing technology as well as infrastructure, and I look forward to contributing to Singapore’s sustainability in the environment and water resources," said Wang Pei.
