National Water Agency PUB's latest campaign aims to ignite this same passion among the public towards water consumption and making every drop count.<br><br></div> <div style="float:left;width:3%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">2.</span> </div><div style="float:left;width:97%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">PUB's annual <b>"Make Every Drop Count"</b> water conservation campaign kicks off this March with an anthemic television commercial, where individuals are shown counting in different settings. These personas soon realise that their daily water habits add up in the same way, and simple actions to use water efficiently count towards securing our water future. The campaign visuals creatively highlight how the small and simple changes we make to our daily water habits not only benefit us, but also bring a 'smile' to our water appliances (See Annex for more details).</span><br><br></div><div style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;"> <b>Smart water users with smart water meters</b><br><br></div><div style="float:left;width:3%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">3.</span> </div><div style="float:left;width:97%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">With rising water demand and the adverse impact of climate change on our water sources, it is now more important than ever to use water responsibly.</span><br><br></div><div style="float:left;width:3%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">4.</span> </div><div style="float:left;width:97%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">The roll-out of smart water meters across residential and businesses premises will provide consumers with on-demand and convenient access to water consumption information. With it, they will be able to better manage their water usage and see tangible results of their efforts – saving water and money in the process.</span><br><br></div><div style="float:left;width:3%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">5.</span> </div><div style="float:left;width:97%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">PUB has started installing smart water meters in Tampines Central since January this year and will progressively install all 309,000 meters at Bukit Batok, Hougang, Jurong West, Tuas, and new housing estates in Tampines North and Tengah under the first phase of the programme. A beta version of the online portal MySmartWaterMeter will be launched this month, and users with smart water meters installed will be informed to login to their account to view daily, even hourly breakdowns of their water consumption data and be automatically alerted to suspected leaks in their premises.</span><br></div><div style="float:left;width:3%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">6.</span> </div><div style="float:left;width:97%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">"PUB has been relentless in our pursuit to ensure water sustainability – innovating and leveraging technology such as advanced metering infrastructure (smart water meters) to help us make every drop count. Through public education, outreach and campaigns, we also seek to build a stronger, water-conscious culture from the ground up. Everyone in Singapore needs to know how and act to conserve precious water resources for future generations," said Ng Joo Hee, Chief Executive, PUB.</span><br><br></div> <div style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;"> <b>Groundswell of support for water conservation and #GoBlue4SG</b><br><br></div><div style="float:left;width:3%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">7.</span> </div><div style="float:left;width:97%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">PUB's annual community movement returns this March to celebrate Singapore World Water Day (SWWD) and continues to garner strong public support with more than 370 partners on board to support the water cause. The <b>Water Wednesdays</b> initiative that started last year to inculcate water consciousness among students has spread beyond schools to corporate partners this year. Shopping malls such as Great World and Paya Lebar Quarter (Tower 2) will be onboard this year – Great World will have mall-wide promotions on Wednesdays in March, while Paya Lebar Quarter (Tower 2) will design water-related quizzes for their tenants.</span><br><br></div><div style="float:left;width:3%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">8.</span> </div><div style="float:left;width:97%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">This year, over 100 schools have also volunteered to hold <b>Water Wednesdays</b> activities for students, as compared to 84 schools last year. For example, returning partner Tanjong Katong Girls' School (TKGS) has planned a special treasure hunt activity for visitors of the NEWater Visitor Centre on Wednesdays in March. “Water has always been an existential issue for Singapore, and we are pleased to partner PUB in promoting the cause to the young and general public. Encouraged by the good response received from their online quiz on water security for primary schools last year, our girls have moved on to design a “Treasure Hunt" for all visitors to the NEWater Visitors' Centre this year. We are grateful for the partnership with PUB, as our girls get to live out the school's mission of being good stewards of knowledge to lead in causes that serve the common good," said Ms Chew Ing Lim, Principal of TKGS.</span><br><br></div> <div style="float:left;width:3%;"><span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">9.</span><br></div><div style="float:left;width:97%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">Members from various community groups will also be engaging in water-themed activities. Outdoor Adventure and Experiential Learning Centre Camelot (Centre for Affective Management, Experiential Learning and Outdoor Training) is participating in this year's SWWD and will be organising a multi-generational kayak and dragon boat clean-up event with senior paddlers from SG Dragons and the Singapore Children's Society (SCS) on 16 March. The event, which will be held at Lower Seletar Reservoir, seeks to promote appreciation of Singapore's clean waterways, and will include a guest appearance of beloved PUB mascots Water Wally and Water Sally. Hong Kah North Community Club will be inviting residents to submit their most creative water-saving tips via a social media contest, while Choa Chu Kang Public Library will be organising a Green Market, hydroponics workshops, reading programmes and more for the public.</span><br><br></div> <div style="float:left;width:4%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">10.</span> </div><div style="float:left;width:96%;"> <span style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">Over 65 deals and promotions will be rolled out by retailers and businesses in support of <b>#GoBlue4SG</b> – a ground-up movement for different segments of the community to demonstrate their commitment for the water cause in their own ways. An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day. This year's theme, “Groundwater: making the invisible visible", spotlights groundwater as an important part of the climate change adaptation process and a solution for people without access to safe water.</p><div style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;"> <b>About Singapore World Water Day</b><br><br></div><div style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">Singapore World Water Day (SWWD) is celebrated across the island throughout the month of March. It is a platform to encourage initiatives by the community, for the community to celebrate water and raise awareness on water conservation. It is the national water agency, which manages Singapore's water supply, water catchment, and used water in an integrated way. From April 2020, PUB also took on the responsibility of protecting Singapore's coastline from sea-level rise as the national coastal protection agency.<br><br></div><div style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">PUB has ensured a diversified and sustainable supply of water for Singapore with the <em>Four National Taps</em> (local catchment water, imported water, NEWater, desalinated water). PUB leads and coordinates whole-of-government efforts to protect Singapore from the threat of rising seas and the holistic management of inland and coastal flood risks.</div> <div style="font-size:18px;line-height:30px;">PUB calls on everyone to play a part in conserving water, in keeping our waterways clean, and in caring for Singapore's precious water resources. If we all do our little bit, there will be enough water for all our needs – for commerce and industry, for living, for life.</div> <p style="text-align:justify;">Find out more about us:<br> Like us at <a href="http://www.facebook.com/PUBsg">www.facebook.com/PUBsg</a> <br> Follow us on <a href="http://www.instagram.com/PUBsingapore">www.instagram.com/PUBsingapore</a> and <a href="http://www.twitter.com/PUBsingapore">www.twitter.com/PUBsingapore</a> <br> Subscribe to our channel at <a href="http://www.youtube.com/sgPUB">www.youtube.com/sgPUB</a> <br> Visit our website at <a href="http://www.pub.gov.sg/">www.pub.gov.sg</a><br> </p><p> <br> <br> <br> </p><p> <br> </p></li>
