PUB has established a comprehensive and robust sampling and monitoring programme to ensure our water quality from source to tap. Water samples are collected from reservoirs, waterworks and distribution systems and tested at laboratories. Online sensors also monitor water quality at each stage of the treatment process and service reservoirs. Over 400,000 tests are conducted annually on physical, organic, inorganic, radiological and microbiological parameters..
The quality of our drinking water is regulated by the Environmental Public Health (EPH) (Quality of Piped Drinking Water) Regulations 2008. The drinking water standards set out under the EPH Regulations were based on the WHO Guidelines for Drinking-water Quality.
PUB makes continuous effort to maintain drinking water quality at the highest possible level.
The tap water is monitored continuously throughout the year.
Singapore's tap water comes from four sources known as the Four National Taps: Water from Local Catchment, Imported Water, NEWater and Desalinated Water.
